1934 – 2023
Stanley Grant Markman, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023, in Murray, Utah. Stan was born November 5, 1934, in Provo, Utah, to Dean James and Winona Morgan Markman. He was the middle child with an older sister, LaDene, and a younger brother, David. He married AlJean Allen on June 26, 1958, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Stan attended schools in Provo, Utah. He proudly graduated from BYU with a degree in civil engineering. Stan retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron after 30 years of employment. He also worked at Rocky Mountain Fabrication and Mark Steel. He served in the National Guard for four years. Stan was an active member of the LDS church, serving in various positions, the most recent being a temple worker at the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temple. Stan loved sports and enjoyed playing baseball and golf. He was an avid BYU and Olympus High School fan, attending events for years. He enjoyed reading, ballroom dance, and traveling. Stan was a caring son, loving brother, devoted father, dedicated husband, proud grandfather, and fond uncle.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynanne Gibbons, his son, Bart (Sherrie) Markman, and his grandchildren, Eric Gibbons, Jack (Sara Matlock) Markman, and Kate Markman. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and siblings.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (3401 Highland Drive). Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Provo City Cemetery. Interment at Provo City Cemetery.
