Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat against Brentford put the club’s chances of finishing in a European spot in jeopardy. The Lilywhites lost 3-1 to Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Brentford are now just one point behind Spurs. Tottenham have 57 points, the same as Aston Villa, who face fifth-placed Liverpool next. Meanwhile, Brighton and Hove Albion have two games in hand on all the other sides involved in the race for Europe, and could seal a Europa League spot by winning both.
Spurs coach Ryan Mason saw his side go 1-0 up in the first half through a free-kick from close range by Harry Kane. Spurs wasted chances through Arnaut Danjuma and Dejan Kulusevski to increase their lead before the break. Bryan Mbeumo punished them five minutes after the break with a well-struck finish from the edge of the box. He added a second in the 62nd by racing into the box and curling a left-footed effort into the far corner.
Yoane Wissa’s late finish secured a remarkable victory. Mbuemo dispossessed Oliver Skipp on the edge of his own box and shifted the ball onto Wissa who made no mistake and fired it past Fraser Forster before heading off to celebrate in front of the jubilant Brentford fans.. Ryan Mason’s side were booed off at full-time after another disappointing performance.

Fans react to poor Tottenham display
Tottenham Hotspur’s poor end to the season continues. The club from London have won just one of their past seven fixtures. They are at risk of finishing the season in lower midtable. It has been an unacceptable season for the fans, with their club conceding 62 goals so far – the sixth most in the league.
However, they could still make it to Europe. Their rivals for the spots all have to play each other, Manchester City or Liverpool, and look set to drop points. A win for Spurs in their final game vs Nottingham Forest could help them reach the Europa League or the Conference League despite a brutal campaign.
