Plans were originally approved by the board in 2021, and enacted last year.
Stage one was to include landscaping, the reconstruction of the club car park, and a new shade structure equipped with solar panels and electric car charging stations.
After some delays, club CEO David Hart said the finish line is in sight.
“We’re just waiting for the solar panels to be hooked up,” he said.
“Hopefully that will be within the next couple of weeks or so.”
Once the solar panels are fully installed, the power they generate should cover most of the club’s electricity usage.
As for what’s next, Mr Hart said the aim is to increase the solar capacity and have all club facilities running on solar energy.
Stage two will include the conversion of the RSL Sporting Complex’s disused tennis court into an additional parking area.
Shelters and solar panels will also be installed over this car park.
The second stage will also make provisions for a back up generator and include the creation of a battery with the capacity to store 1400kw of energy.
Mr Hart said the board is yet to officially sign off on stage two.
As a result, a start date has not been confirmed.
