Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in making a surprise move for out-of-favour Chelsea star, Edouard Mendy, as the Senegal international looks set to depart this summer.
The Senegalese shot-stopper has been a pivotal member in the Chelsea squad over recent years, being the number one for the clubs historic Champions League triumph in 2021.
However, the 2022-23 season has been a difficult period for the Chelsea goalkeeper, as he dropped down the pecking order.
Kepa Arrizabalaga has been the first-choice goalkeeper for the Blues, with Graham Potter and Frank Lampard both preferring the Spanish international.
Prior to Chelsea’s last Premier League fixture, where they were held by Nottingham Forest, Mendy had not played since the Blues lost to Newcastle back in December.
This exclusion from the first team has put the 31-year-old’s future in doubt and has reportedly attracted interest from local rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs are set to lose their long-time servant, and reliable goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, as the Frenchman will leave the club after almost a decade in the Premier League.
Fraser Forster has stepped in for the France international, however, Spurs have failed to perform in the final stages of the season.
Antonio Conte parted ways with the club after a run of poor performances and the Italian’s assistant, Cristian Stellini, was temporarily appointed.
Stellini’s reign came to an abrupt end, with a 6-1 thrashing to Newcastle being the final nail in the coffin. Ryan Mason was appointed for the remainder of the season and has also failed to turn things around.
With Spurs looking for a new shot-stopper and the Blues unlikely to offer Mendy an improved deal, we could see a ‘London to London’ switch this summer.
