Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty-five minutes of action against Brentford in this afternoon’s Premier League clash.
Tottenham head into the break against Thomas Frank’s side currently 1-0 ahead courtesy of Harry Kane’s sublime effort.
Fraser Forster: A relatively quiet half. 6.
Emerson Royal: Was inches away from doubling Tottenham’s lead when he saw his header cleared off the line. 7.
Davinson Sanchez: Had a headed chance from a corner but could not direct it on target. Has done well down the right when he has got forward. 6.
Clement Lenglet: Has done well at the back with Brentford rarely threatening. 6.
Ben Davies: Defended well to sniff out the danger of a Brentford counter-attack to clear from three yards out. 6.
Yves Bissouma: Deservedly named in the starting eleven after an impressive cameo at Villa. Has looked more like his old self in this system. Booked just before the half after he lunged in and thankfully got his foot on the floor beforehand to avoid a red. 7.
Oliver Skipp: Has looked to have more freedom when playing alongside Bissouma with the academy graduate getting stuck in while the Malian looks to get the ball forward. Played a small role in Kane’s goal when he stood on the end of the wall to block ant Brentford players. 6.
Heung-min Son: Played a neat ball onto the head of Royal and followed it up with another good cross to create Danjuma’s headed chance. He would have scored if it were not for a last-gasp block from Ben Mee. 7.
Arnaut Danjuma: Had a good chance on the counter attack but appeared to lose his composure just about when it looked as if he could have got a shot away. Saw his header agonisingly curl away from goal after getting into a really good position. 6.
Dejan Kulusevski: Picked up the easiest assist of his career when he backheeled the ball into the path of Kane. Linked up well with Son to create the chance for Royal and jst before the half and played a deft ball through for the South Korean’s effort. Stung the hands of Raya just before the break. 7.
Harry Kane: Opened the scoring with a stunning effort from a free-kick, is there anything this man cannot do? 8.
