A South West man has declared he will fight allegations of sexually offending against six different children but may face further charges over further alleged offending against a child outside of Australia.
The man, whose identity has been suppressed, appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court via video link from Hakea Prison on Thursday where he pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of indecently dealing with a child under 13 years, two counts of exposing a child under 13 years to indecent matter and sexually penetrating a child under 13 years.
The offending, which includes six different alleged victims, allegedly took place in two different areas within the South West region between 2020 and 2021.
While the man’s State charges were committed to the Bunbury District Court for a trial listing hearing in August, the man is also subject to a number of Commonwealth charges.
The man also faces allegations of persistently sexually offending against a child outside of Australia, intending to procure a child to engage in sexual activity outside Australia, possessed or controlled child exploitation material obtained or accessed using a carriage system, and using a carriage service to transmit an indecent communication to a person under 16 years of age.
However, the court was told the man could face even more Commonwealth charges as investigators continue to review more than 100 media files obtaining during their investigation.
The man’s Commonwealth charges were adjourned for a further four weeks for investigations to continue.
The man was remanded in custody.
