The South Burnett Thrashers had another successful bus trip away on Saturday, downing the Toowoomba Rangers at USQ after a second-half fightback.
“Rangers started strong having 80 per cent possession of the ball,” club president Jamie Shirlaw said.
“We went into halftime down 12- 5.
“Once we found our groove we were able to put on 28 unanswered points in the second half.
“Once we were on the attack the backs were electric and virtually unstoppable.
“Our forwards defended well, holding out a constant barrage of attacking mauls from the Rangers.
“Coach Mike Bishop likened the team to Dire Straits, as they were the Sultans of Swing because of the way the backs were able to swing the ball around.”
Mike said it was the best rugby he had seen in the Darling Downs for years.
Thrashers tries were scored by Amosa Nuu (2), Jeff Iro (2) and Sata Tale. Nikolao Petueli was back and kicked four out of five conversions.
Next week, the Thrashers will we take on the Condamine Cods out at Fish Bowl at Condamine.
“A reminder, if anyone wants to get one of the new Thrashers shirts they are available from Coppards in Kingaroy,” Jamie said.
