COMPLETE ALL-SKYLINE CONFERENCE RELEASE
NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference’s 10 head softball coaches have voted on the 2023 edition of the all-conference team, and six Farmingdale State College student-athletes have garnered distinction — including freshman designated player Samantha Stolfi (Pt. Jefferson Station, N.Y.) being selected as Rookie of the Year.
Stolfi was joined on the all-conference first team by junior right fielder Jenna Giliberti (Bellmore, N.Y.), senior center fielder Priscilla Rivera (Brentwood, N.Y.) and sophomore right-handed pitcher Ava Shorr (No. Babylon, N.Y.). Collecting second-team praise were senior first baseman Brooke Walker (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) and junior shortstop Angelina Capuano (Sayville, N.Y.).
Stepping into the cleanup spot in the batting order as a freshman, Stolfi hit .380 and led the Skyline with 41 RBI this season — good for the fifth-best single-season mark in program history. She also ranked fifth in the Skyline with 46 hits, and ranked 43rd and 53rd nationally in RBI per game (1.11) and total RBI, respectively.
Shorr, now a two-time All-Skyline choice, ranked third in the Skyline with 13 wins — including a pair in the Rams’ participation in the Skyline Conference Championship tournament, fourth with a .228 opposing batting average, five shutouts (No. 42 nationally) and 1.19 WHIP, fifth in ERA (2.65) and sixth in strikeouts (86). In Conference play, Shorr tossed two no-hitters, ranked second in opposing BA, third in ERA, tied for third in wins and seventh in strikeouts.
Now a two-time first-team all-conference selection, Giliberti tied for the conference lead in runs scored (49), tied for second in triples (5), third for stolen bases (22) and hits (51), fourth in slugging percentage (.619) and fifth in OPS (1.064) from her leadoff spot in the lineup. She held national rankings of fifth and 44th in runs per game (Skyline-best 1.32) and total triples, respectively. Giliberti’s runs scored (31) in Skyline-only play led that category by nine, while she also ranked second in triples (tied), third in stolen bases (12) and tied for sixth in RBI (17).
Rivera is now a four-time all-conference pick, and ranked second in the conference in stolen bases (school-record 31), fourth in runs scored (35) and fifth in batting average (.418) from her No. 2 spot in the lineup. She laid down a conference-high 11 sacrifice bunts, while ranking nationally in stolen bases (15th) and sacrifices (18th) per game, as well as total stolen bases (19th). Her 54 stolen bases are the second-most in program history.
Walker is now a three-time all-conference honoree after batting .315 and led the team with nine doubles, while ranking second with 13 extra-base hits and four triples (No. 85 nationally). She was fourth in the Skyline in triples, and tied for seventh in RBI (24).
Capuano, a first-team honoree in 2021, ranked third on the Rams in runs (26), tied for third in doubles (6), third in on-base percentage (.415) and fourth in hits (34) and RBI (20) from her No. 3 spot in the batting lineup. On defense, she tallied 76 assists, which was the second-highest mark in the conference. In Skyline play, she led the conference in assists, tied for sixth in hits and ranked 10th in stolen bases.
