“We won a big award at the Adelaide Fringe for the best kids and family performance for the week,” producer Alli Pope said.
“Which is really big, because there are like 1200 events on, it is the second biggest fringe in the world, so we are thrilled with that.”
Snowy and the cool dudes is an interactive take on the classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Playing at the Echuca Paramount on Saturday, July 1, the pantomime has been updated with a kinder and more friendly message than the original.
“Snowy and the seven cool dudes is a fractured fairy tale with a modern day twist,” Alli said.
“Based on the original Snow White, but much more friendly than the old story.”
In this version, Snowy is becoming more beautiful every day and the Wicked Queen is not happy.
On the Queen’s orders The Hunter takes Snowy into the forest and leaves her there forever.
Meanwhile, the Cool Dudes start making healthier food choices and exercising.
“Our seven cool dudes are all rappers, and they have their own personal trainer,” Ms Pope said.
“We actually choose kids out of the audience to come up and be those rappers.”
“Thrown out to the audience is, ‘What’s a healthy food choice?’
“And the kids will go, ‘bananas, rockmelon’, shouting out all these fun things.
“Then the rappers will use that in the show.
“It is a very noisy, big musical show with lots of dancing, it’s fantastic.”
During this interactive production, kids in the audience will be invited on stage to become a variety of characters including the cool dudes.
The show is written for ages three to 11, as well as being attractive to big kids, mums, dads and all the family.
Snowy and the Seven Cool Dudes will be at Echuca Paramount Theatre on Saturday, July 1 at 10.30am.
