A youngster who has been at the West Coast Eagles for only a week, two premiership stars and three others with varying degrees of experience.
That was the wash-up for the match committee as they made six changes while working on the line-up for Saturday’s clash with Adelaide at Adelaide following a rash of injuries over the last week.
While young forward Ryan Maric will make a dream debut in senior football, he will be joined by Norm Smith medallist and captain Luke Shuey as well as key forward Jack Darling.
Additionally, small utility player Samo Petrevski-Seton, young midfielder Luke Edwards and wingman Greg Clark have been included in the starting 22.
Unfortunately, the club was forced to make six changes, all the result of injuries – although half-back Liam Duggan was also ruled out through suspension after being unable to present his case to appeal a dangerous tackle charge.
Duggan had an infection in his toe and was forced to spend some time in hospital early in the week.
Energetic forward/midfielder Connor West, who suffered a knee injury last week which required surgery, young midfielder Elijah Hewett (concussion), veteran defender Shannon Hurn (hamstring), ruckman Callum Jamieson (groin) and defender Josh Rotham (thumb) could not be considered.
Five of those issues evolved during the devastation against Collingwood last week while Rotham suffered his injury at main training on Wednesday.
Key forward Oscar Allen will likely appreciate the return of Darling to provide another big target in the forward 50.
While Maric will debut, young ruckman Harry Barnett, who has not yet played senior football, has been named on the emergency list with midfielder Campbell Chesser, developing forward Jack Williams and midfielder Zane Trew.
