Yoey Coogan
It was a wonderful day for golf, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and the kangaroos were laying about on Tuesday 30 May when the Gympie Vets played a single Stableford.
The sponsor for the day was Ron Hall from Clawfoot Baths – thank you Ron for your continued and generous support.
There were 76 players in the field and winners are grinners, with the Burglar Barling Brothers definitely grinning.
A grade winner was Ian “Banga” Barling with a score of 38 on a count back to Mark Stratton and coming in third was Doug Sutton on 35.
B grade winner was Geoff “Mash” Barling with a score of 39. Coming in second was Ian Moore on 37 on a count back to Jeff Hudgson.
C grade was won by George Fewtrell with the best score of the day on 42 points, nice golf George.
Coming in second was Gavin Gagen on 35 followed closely by Terry Bates with a score of 34.
Everyone who was present at presentation received a ball in the run down.
Pin shots and accuracy drive also sponsored by Clawfoot Baths were won by John Godsall, Kim Blackburn (2), John Hardy and Gavin Gagen.
Congratulations to all winners and thanks Clawfoot Baths.
Mick King is having putting lessons.
The wild draw card will be $60 next week.
There were plenty of Jelliatrics to hand out.
One went out to Ray “Mallee Bull” Dunkley for leaving two clubs on the second hole.
It’s not easy to try and hit a shot if you haven’t got the right equipment, Ray.
Gerry Entwistle had two shots and still wasn’t past the tee marker.
Kim Blackburn lost his card before the game started and Yoey Coogan was so engrossed in her conversation she walked off the third green with the flag stick in hand.
Quote of the week: “Don’t play too much golf. Two rounds a day are plenty,” Harry Vardon.
Happy golfing
