Extreme Trampoline CQ was proudly represented by seven trampolinists in the Gymnastics Queensland State Team competing in the Australian Gymnastics Championships at the Gold Coast over the six day period May 17-21. All seven trampolinists were reputable finalists in one or more events, excellent result.
Competing in the National stream events, ten year old Naviah Cook made her debut in the Level 5 events for girls under 13 years. Naviah was successful, progressing through to the finals in double mini trampoline placing a well earned 8th.
The trio of Emma Wright, Lily Matthews & Paige Brady all excelled in National 6 events for girls aged 13-16 years.
At only 12 Emma Wright surprised us with routines showing good form and determination well beyond her previous performances qualifying her for the finals in individual trampoline, successfully placing 5th overall.
Definitely one of the clubs highlights was the gold medal winning routines of Lily Matthews & Paige Brady in National 6 women’s synchronised trampoline. Qualifying in 1st place with a score of 41.885, Matthews & Brady
extended their lead in the finals to a convincing win by 2.9points and the National title.
Making her return to the National Championships after a break of a few years, Ellie Wogand performed well to reach both the finals in Junior International synchronised trampoline and National 7 double mini trampoline,
Marginally out of the medals, placing fourth twice.
Extremes two high performance athletes, Sam Durkin & Matthaeus Grieves took on the nations most talented Junior international men 17-21 years with favourable results. Durkin performance well in individual trampoline’s Qualifying round, progressing to the finals with the 2nd highest scoring routine.
Finals didn’t quite go to plan and a split second decision doubting his skill execution saw Sam stop, resulting in 6th place in the final.
Both Sam & Matt executed awesome double mini passes of high difficulty and technique, allowing them to proceed to the top eight final. With the 2021-2024 Olympic cycle new rules, comes the excitement of a Super Final, Sam’s final passes scored in the top four and he competed in the Super Final with excellent consistency Resulting in a bronze medal winning performance.
