Softball:
Division II
No. 1 Westfield (4), No. 8 Silver Lake (2)
Shea Hurley guided the No. 1 Westfield softball team to victory like she has all season. This time, however, it was a 4-2 outcome against No. 8 Silver Lake in the Division II state quarterfinals on Saturday.
The sophomore allowed four hits, two earned runs, and struck out 11 during seven scoreless innings as the Bombers improved to 21-1 on the season. Kenzie Raymond (1-for-3), Allie Rehor (2-for-3), Ciara Toporowski (1-for-4), and Ali LaPanne (1-for-2) recorded all five of their team’s hits.
Westfield will now face the winner of Sunday’s matchup between No. 4 Burlington and No. 5 North Attleborough during its third consecutive state semifinal matchup, set for a time and location to be announced.

The No. 5 Pioneer Valley Regional baseball team defeated No. 4 Hopedale 3-1 during Saturday’s Division V state quarterfinal matchup.
The Panthers improved to 19-1 and will now play the winner of Sunday’s matchup between No. 1 Georgetown or No. 9 Hopkins Academy in the D-V state semifinals on a time and date to be announced.

On Saturday, the No. 5 Lenox girls tennis team traveled nearly 200 miles for their Division IV state quarterfinal matchup against Saint John Paul II. And to their delight, they didn’t leave empty-handed as the Millionaires earned a 3-2 win.
After dropping their season-opener against Mount Greylock in April, Lenox (18-1) has won 18 consecutive games. They will now face No. 1 Hamilton-Wenham in the D-IV state semifinals at a time and date to be announced.

Division II
No. 4 Longmeadow (9), No. 5 Billerica (4)

No. 3 Duxbury (13), No. 11 Minnechaug (4)
Despite a team-high two goals from Jackson Derosia, the No. 11 Minnechaug boys lacrosse team was defeated by No. 3 Duxbury 13-4 during Saturday’s Division II state quarterfinal matchup.
The Dragons will now face the winner of Monday’s matchup between No. 2 Nauset and No. 7 Marblehead in the D-II state semifinals, on a time and date to be announced.
Charlie Hartin (one goal), Thomas O’Toole (one goal), Matt Wurszt (one assist), and Matt Beaudin (one assist) rounded out the scoring for the Falcons as they finished the season at 15-5.
Minnechaug also bid farewell to 13 seniors: Isaiah Kozub, Nicholas Boudreau, Michael Harrigan, Cameron Ice, Colin Elliott, Michael Curley, Aidan Vreeland, David Noel, Stephen Putnam, Liam Colclough, Luke Whalen-Sylver, Wurszt, and Hartin.
Division III
No. 1 Norwell (12), No. 8 Pope Francis (6)
Despite a trio of goals from Connor Ondrick, the No. 8 Pope Francis boys lacrosse team was defeated by No. 1 Norwell 12-6 during Saturday’s Division III state quarterfinal matchup.
The Clippers will now face the winner of Sunday’s matchup between No. 4 Grafton and No. 5 Medfield in the D-III state semifinals at a time and date to be announced.
Gage Sperlonga (two goals), Ziggy Buffone (one goal), Mike Wolanski (two assists), and Richard Roy (one assist) rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals as they finished the season at 16-4.
Girls Lacrosse:
Division I
No. 3 Westwood (11), No. 6 Longmeadow (10)
The No. 6 Longmeadow girls lacrosse team and No. 3 Westwood needed more than regulation to determine a winner of Saturday’s Division I state quarterfinal matchup.
But it wasn’t in the Lancers’ favor, as the Wolverines earned an 11-10 overtime win to punch its ticket into the D-I state semifinals against No. 7 Franklin on a time and date to be announced.
The outcome snapped Longmeadow’s impressive 14-game winning streak, where they outscored its opponents 237-77, finishing the season at 17-2.
