On Anzac Day, the Cooloola Coast Bowls Club held a service and remembrance to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and are still serving in the forces. Following the service, the bowlers enjoyed a successful afternoon of play with all the proceeds of the day of bowls and the proceeds from the raffle being donated to Legacy.
Ivan Frisky, the representative from Legacy attended last Friday night’s Bistro, where the president of the Bowler’s Committee, Bill Ruddle, had the pleasure of presenting a cheque of $500 to Legacy. In response, Ivan thanked the Cooloola Coast Bowls Club for their generosity and very briefly indicated the wonderful benefits that Legacy provides in the Gympie area.
The Men’s B Grade Singles first round was played Tuesday 2 May. The second round was played on Saturday 6 May with Bruce Exeter and Danial Wheeler coming through to play in the Finals on Thursday 11 May.
The Ladies B Grade first and second round were also played during the week with Tracey Brown and Philippa Collins playing in the Finals on Thursday 11 May.
For Tuesday mixed social jackpot pairs there were perfect playing conditions. Peter Barnett and Ross Ashley were the overall winners. The second-round winners were a trio, Tracey Brown, David Frost and Allan Wegner. The Jackpot is continuing to build as again the lucky number was not won.
For the Thursday mixed social “one for end plus three for win” was the score and the games controller announced Kevin Coleman, Di Currell and John Lomax as the winners. The runners-up were Gaye Franks and Don Collins.
On the Sunday mixed social participants were playing under a sunny sky, Tess Moffitt and Brodie Melvin were the lucky pair to win the day’s comp. Sue Long, John Moffitt and Don Beaton were the runners-up.
