The role
As a Senior Production Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will support Babcock with delivering our purpose of Creating a Safe and Secure World Together through the production and manufacture of high-performance military vehicles, either directly or within supporting roles.
This is an exciting opportunity to support Babcock with delivering our purpose of creating a safe and secure world together through the production and manufacture of high-performance military vehicles (Jackal), either directly or within supporting roles.
The Jackal vehicles are designed to protect military personnel serving in volatile environments and can protect against roadside explosions and mine attacks.
Day to day, you will lead, inspire & support the production team to deliver the required outputs efficiently and safely.
Your role is to effectively manage the production engineering functions output to provide the production teams a clear understanding of the build methodology & programme, its schedule, equipment delivery sequence and the resource levels required to effectively deliver vehicles to contract.
Essential experience of the Senior Production Engineer
* Deep understanding of vehicle assembly techniques, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Educated to degree / HND standard or equivalent.
* Excellent communication & organisational skills
* Being adaptable and flexible in a fast moving and challenging environment with a strong work ethic.
* Ability to collate and present information at appropriate levels
* Experience of 3D and 2D CAD modelling and detailing.
* Computer literate (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint etc.).
* Practical knowledge of materials and their properties for design and development
* Good knowledge of FEA, prototyping, manufacturing and production processes
* Experience of 3D and 2D CAD modelling and detailing is desirable
* Working collaborate with different functions is desirable
The role is based on predominantly on-site, possible WFH options available on occasion on case by case basis
Qualifications for the Senior Production Engineer
* Degree or HND/Equivalent is preferred
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
