Sam Walker’s tough season has taken another turn with the young playmaker suffering a knee injury at training.
The halfback was supposed to feature for Sydney Roosters’ NSW Cup side on Friday evening in a match which serves as a precursor for the Chooks must-win NRL game against the Panthers, however he has now been sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Although those plans have taken a significant hit with the 20-year-old expected to miss up to a month of action, according to initial reports. He injured his knee at training with the damage only reported to be minor.
Sam Walker news
Walker was surprisingly dropped by Robinson following the Roosters’ loss to Cronulla in Round 7, with rumours swirling since then that he could make an exit from the club despite signing a deal through until the end of 2025.
“I never wanted to get dropped, but I will work as hard as I possibly can to get a spot back in the team,” Walker told The Daily Telegraph last week in his first interview since his shock demotion.
However, tentative links to the Dolphins have been made since which Cooper Cronk – a consultant who works at the Roosters – was keen to dismiss on Friday night before news broke of Walker’s injury.
“Interesting because the same journalist did an article a week ago with Sam Walker that said he’s dedicated and committed to the Roosters and getting back and playing some good football,” Cronk said on Fox League.
“I imagine it sits in the irrelevant category because one week it’s committed, dedicated and then the other there’s no sources.
“There’s no one putting a name to it, it’s just ‘shopped around’. But the kid’s contracted to 2025. I saw him during the week, and he’s committed.”
