Sale horse racing tips & form
—
Race 1. (11:35) Ecycle Solutions Maiden Hurdle (3240m)
#6 – Royal Crown @ $2.60
Royal Crown has been threatening to win on the flat and that form translates well over the jumps.
The six-year-old son of Helmet is a six-time winner on the flat, and some of his best form comes on rain affected tracks.
Everything points towards a handy hurdle debut.
Race 2. (12:10) Ecycle Solutions Maiden Hurdle (3240m)
#4 – Mahamedis @ $2.90
Mahamedis has been disappointing on the flat this preparation, which is why he’s being tried over the jumps.
His flat speed alone makes him tough to beat, and against this field, he should be able to get back to his best.
He’s a 12-time winner and he won his only start at Sale, so there is good upside.
Race 3. (12:50) Ecycle Solutions Hurdle (3240m)
#4 – Cernan @ $2.20
Cernan capped off solid form with a win at Hamilton last start and he’s good enough to go back-to-back.
The seven-year-old son of Sea the Moon has yet to win from four attempts at Sale, but there is a lack of depth in this field.
$2.20 is getting short but include him in selections.
Race 4. (13:30) Gippsland Times Steeplechase (3240m)
#1 – Castrofrancaru @ $1.50
Punters have to take short odds for the favourite, but after consecutive wins, we’re backing him.
The five-year-old won at Kyneton before winning over the steeplechase by seven lengths over Roland Garros, which is a good form guide.
A repeat could be on the cards.
Race 5. (14:10) Wellington Real Estate Maiden (1108m)
#10 – Wirrpanda @ $5
Wirrpanda has attracted attention on debut after not being asked for much effort in a recent trial.
The two-year-old colt by Wandjina gets all favours off the inside draw, and he should be able to handle the wet conditions.
Punters get each-way odds for the loose favourite.
Race 6. (14:45) Gippsland Real Estate C1 (1208m)
#7 – Queen of the Green @ $2.50
Queen of the Green looked good when winning on debut at Geelong, and a repeat of that should see her go close.
The Price/Kent-trained runner then disappointed at Sale and Morphettville, but those weren’t easy races to win.
The betting support suggests a good run is coming.
Race 7. (15:20) Graham Chalmer BM64 (2232m)
#5 – Cru Classe @ $3.40
The Patrick Payne-trained mare is getting close to a win after three placings from four starts this preparation.
She is only a two-time winner from 13 starts, but she runs her best races on soft tracks with seven starts for two wins and two placings.
2kg comes off her back to help.
Race 8. (15:55) Sale Mazda & Mitsubishi BM64 (1736m)
#2 – Funnyifitwon @ $2.70
Funnyifitwon didn’t win at Sandown last time out but dropping in class could turn the tables.
The Payne-trained gelding looked much better when winning consecutive races at Sale and Mildura, so having winning experience here is ideal.
He gets weight off his back and we’re putting him on top.
Race 9. (16:25) Ladbroke It BM64 (1419m)
#7 – King Neptune @ $3.70
King Neptune has been around the mark to start his career, including a win and four second placings from eight starts.
The three-year-old son of Ocean Park has yet to miss a win or placing from three attempts on a soft surface, so the conditions are ideal.
We expect him to be fighting out the finish.
