TWO Ballarat rowers are set to compete in Paris this year as part of an Australian Rowing Team.
Lucy Richardson and Katie Jackson from the Wendouree Rowing Club have been chosen alongside coach Jamie McDonald to compete in the Under 19 World Rowing Championships.
The event will take place from Wednesday, 2 August until Sunday, 6 August at Vaires-sur-Marne, a venue for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The pair, who have been rowing together since 2020, recently won at the Australian Rowing Championships.
In year 12 at Clarendon College, they have been training alongside completing their VCE studies.
Under 19 World Rowing Championships will be second time the pair have rowed internationally, competing in the Australian Junior Eight last year.
“We are extremely proud of Lucy, Katie, and Jamie for their remarkable accomplishments,” said president of Wendouree Rowing Club, John King.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for them to showcase their talents on the world stage and bring further recognition to our club and Australian rowing.”
Mr King said the club is proud of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the pair and coach McDonald.
“We wish them the best of luck in Paris and know they will do us proud.”
