Yarding 6300 Change +2500
Numbers lifted by 2,500 head to 6,300 at Roma this week.
The yarding was dominated by local steers and included 300 head from Alice Springs.
Overall quality was good with some very good quality pens of yearling steers on offer and while there was strong local support buyers were operating selectively and most classes of steers eased on last week.
Restocker heifers continued to receive competition from Central West Queensland and maintained prices.
Export buyers were operating on store cows and cows to the processor held firm on last week.
Restockers were preferring heavier pens of yearlings with light weight restocker steers easing by 15c, selling to 388.2c to average 352c/kg. 280 to 300kg steers sold to 368.2c with most around 336c/kg.
Feeder operators paid up to 348.2c for medium weight steers while those to the restocker made 364.2c to average 347c and good quality heavy feeder steers sold to 358.2c with most around 317c/kg.
Light weight restocker heifers saw similar support to last week with heifers under 280kg selling to 294.2c to average 254c, while those 280 to 330kg lifted 7c, selling to 298.2c averaging 264c/kg.
Medium weight heifers to feed made to 274.2c to average 252c while heavy weights sold to 294.2c/kg.
Heavy store cows over 520kg saw and improvement this week selling to 199.2c to average 190c, medium made to 218.2c averaging 203c and heavy cows held firm selling to 225.2c to average 216c/kg.
Heavy bulls sold to 267.2c/kg.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 376c/kg and averaged 326c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 388c/kg and averaged 348c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 368c/kg and averaged 330c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 364c/kg and averaged 313c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 358c/kg and averaged 293c/kg.
