La Crosse, WI (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man has been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting in downtown La Crosse.
A news release from the La Crosse Police Department says officers responded to a report of shots fired with numerous injuries in the 100 block of South 3rd St. around 2:00 Saturday morning. Responding officers found at least six people had been injured by the gunfire.
The news release says officers found the suspect vehicle and a handgun inside but not the driver. Less than eight hours later, police arrested 31-year-old Deandrew S. Grant without incident as a result of the shooting investigation.
Investigators believe Grant acted alone, the news release says. The gunshot victims suffered what are described as non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
“Our department has responded to several challenging incidents this past week. I appreciate the dedication, compassion and professionalism all staff have shown through these difficult incidents. Incidents such as the early morning shooting will have lasting impacts on an entire community. Together we will work for the safety of the entire community.” Chief Shawn Kudron
Grant was booked into the La Crosse County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree reckless homicide and bail jumping. Grant’s first court appearance has not yet been set.
