RIVERSIDE — A five-run bottom of the first inning proved to be enough for Riverside High varsity baseball head coach Gary Herron to pick up the 400th win of his 31-year career as the Rams defeated Palmyra, 5-3, Thursday in Burlington County Scholastic League Freedom Division play at Bob Kenney Field.
Cameron Pierce drove in two runs for Riverside. Dominic Marrone threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Joe Elmes tripled and struck out 12 in relief for the Panthers.

FLEMINGTON — Bryce Meccage went the distance, tossing a three-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and no walks, to lead the Red Hawks to New Jersey Independent Schools Athletics Association Prep B Tournament title at DiamondNation.
Pennington (16-1), which gave Meccage the only runs he would need in the second and sixth innings, will turn around and host Hopewell Valley (11-7) in the Championship Bracket of the Mercer County Tournament at 4 p.m. Friday at Heritage Field.
