Premier Racing at The Meadows this evening is highlighted by the appearances of Amron Boy and Kelsey Bale in a 525-metre Free For All.
These two greyhounds staged a wonderful battle in the Group 3 Bill Collins Showdown (515m) at Sandown Park on May 26 and almost stole the spotlight from the Group 1 Sandown Cup Final (715m) won by Korda.
Kelsey Bale assumed control heading out of the first turn and appeared to have established a race-winning margin in the back straight, but Amron Boy gathered momentum turning for home and eventually prevailed by almost two lengths in 29.418 seconds.
AMRON BOY (3) DEFEATED KELSEY BALE (1) IN THE GROUP 3 BILL COLLINS SHOWDOWN:
Amron Boy (Box 3 tonight) captured his second Group 1 triumph in the Harrison-Dawson Final (515m) the week prior to the victory over Kelsey Bale and he now boasts 18 victories and 16 minor placings from 45 starts.
The Brooke Ennis-trained greyhound enjoys racing at The Meadows with seven wins and five minor placings from 17 attempts over the 525-metre trip with the most notable victory in last December’s Group 1 Silver Chief Final.
Kelsey Bale (Box 2 this evening) has amassed 23 wins and 26 minor placings from 66 races highlighted by five Group victories including success in three country cups this year at Ballarat, Geelong and Warrnambool.
The Danny Gibbons-prepared chaser shines at The Meadows with six victories and five minor placings over 525 metres including the Group 3 RSN Silver Bullet last October and the Australian Cup Consolation in February.
Expert form analyst The Watchdog is tipping Amron Boy to prevail in Race 8 at 8:58pm.
“Amron Boy recovered from early interference to beat Kelsey Bale in their match race last start and he will be hard to stop with a trouble free run.
“Kelsey Bale loves racing at The Meadows and she is the obvious danger.”
Before heading to Albion Park on June 1, Group 1 placegetter Landyn Bale (Box 7) had won three of his previous four starts and he cannot be entirely ruled out with five wins and four minor placings at The Meadows over 525 metres.
