First Riddells Creek Scout Group will be holding a whole town garage sale on Saturday, May 27, to raise money for upcoming camps.
The garage sale will be held from 8am to 2pm, at the scout hall, with food from a barbeque and cake stall available to purchase.
Scout leader Leanne Karman said money from the fundraiser will be put towards sending the groups Venturers and Cubs to statewide camps.
“Part of [the money] is for Cuboree, that’s in September,” Ms Karman said.
“Normally about 4000 cubs [aged 8-12 years old] go from across Victoria… part of the money is going to sending our cubs there.”
“The other part is going to Venture [2024] which is a… massive camp… it’s quite expensive and is a lot to ask parents to fork out, so we try and raise as much as we can.”
Ms Karman said there will be about 28 scouts from the group attending the camps, which will help to challenge them while providing a fun and inclusive environment.
“Obviously it’s fun and adventurous and challenging,” she said, “if we can get them to these events they get the inclusion and they learn life events as well.”
With about 17 bookings for the garage sale, and about 16 for the market stalls, Ms Karman said the stalls will sell a range of items, including; clothes, craft and household items.
