A Gympie couple’s life has turned on its head overnight after a spectacular windfall from a single online QuickPick claiming meditation may have had something to do with it.
The anonymous couple’s win was revealed Wednesday morning in a media release from The Lott, who run the Set for Life draw.
Their payout will be delivered to the couple in monthly $20,000 instalments across the next 20 years.
It was the only division one winning ticket in the country from Tuesday night’s draw.
A The Lott spokeswoman said the couple “confessed they instantly felt woozy and weak at the knees” upon discovering they had won.
The spokeswoman said the couple were swift to answer the call from lottery officials, picking up on the first ring.
Initial disbelief from the husband (“hang on, your kidding”) soon gave way to celebration.
“This is extremely wonderful. We’re so shocked,” he said on the phone.
“My wife just went pale, and now she’s crying.

“We’ve often dreamt about winning Set for Life, but never have expected it to ever happen. It’s something we’ve manifested, and my wife has meditated about it.
“The universe works in mysterious ways.
“We’re super grateful.
“I’ve always said, if I was to win any lottery game, I’d want to win Set for Life.
“It’s great knowing that we have a regular income coming in for the next 20 years.”
The win comes as they were starting to “struggle” with constant cost-of-living increases.
The first step in enjoying their winnings included booking an overseas trip, completing renovations, and helping their family and friends.
“We can’t wait to help our children and grandchildren – it’s going to do such wonderful things,” he said.
“We’ve always wanted to go overseas to Bali and complete a jungle tour, as well as Italy.”
“Thank you so much for this life-changing news.”
