Shout out to all Maine skaters and fans! The City of South Portland Parks and Recreation put out a press release on Facebook announcing the highly anticipated opening of it’s very first skatepark.
This is a momentous occasion where the department will host a huge grand opening event. When? June 21st which coincides with national “Go Skateboarding Day.” Fitting eh?
The ceremony will take place from 4-6pm at the brand spanking new skate part right across the street from South Portland Community Center on 21 Nelson Road in South Portland.
As the press release states, you can be ready for a ribbon cutting ceremony, live music, food trucks, a mini skate competition, and giveaways!
Also highlighted will be esteemed guests including the Skatepark Committee Members and the Mayor of South Portland, with Kate Lewis.
The So. Po. Skatepark was designed by Pillar Design Studios and built by Pivot crew from American Ramp Company. It’s 10,000 square feet of skateboarding heaven will cater to all riders and skill sets.
