PROVIDENCE, R.I. – On Monday June 5, the Providence College Athletic Department held its annual Hannoush Jewelers Friar Golf Classic in Warwick, R.I. at Warwick Country Club. The sold-out event raised more than $150,000 that will enhance the experience of every student-athlete at Providence College.
Providence College Athletics would like to thank Hannoush Jewelers, the title sponsor for this event, as well as presenting sponsors: Coast to Coast Promotional Products, Finetco, Lax & Co., Providence Friars Sports Properties, Rossi Electric, UG2, The Friar Family Collective and Millonzi Fine Catering.
Player gifts were sponsored by Nike and Prime Time Sports. Guests were treated to a delicious lunch provided by Coastal1 Credit Union, as well as grilled steaks and an oyster bar stationed on the course, courtesy of The Capital Grille. On-course beverages were provided by Coca Cola and signage was donated generously by Graphic Innovations.
Guests had the opportunity to meet coaches and student-athletes from many of the Friar athletic programs on the course throughout the day.
Following golf, there was a dinner and speaking program featuring remarks from President Fr. Kenneth R. Sicard, O.P., and Athletic Director, Steve Napolillo ’98. Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Erin Batth and Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Kim English, invigorated the crowd with insights about what fans can expect from this year’s upcoming season.
The dinner concluded with remarks from men’s basketball student-athlete, Bryce Hopkins, and a presentation to the Athletics Donor of the Year, Ken Canestrari ’84, ’20P.
“The Friar Golf Classic was awesome,” said Coach Erin Batth. “This event was another opportunity for me to see and experience the greatness and support that exemplifies Providence College. Special thanks to Hannoush and all the golfers for making me and my staff feel so welcome. I’m so excited about our student-athletes, this is going to be a great year! Go Friars!”
“What an amazing day! The support from our student-athletes, our donors and our PC family was truly humbling. I was happy that our donors had the opportunity to meet and interact with so many of our student-athletes throughout the day”, said Athletic Director Steve Napolillo ’98. “I really want to thank Hannoush Jewelers, our presenting sponsors and all of our golfers for making this such a memorable day.”
“The Hannoush Friar Golf Classic was a great day to be with the Friartown community and support all teams throughout the department. I especially want to congratulate Ken Canestrari and the Canestrari family for being named donor of the year,” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach Kim English.
