The Professor of Allied Health Research is a joint appointment between UC’s Faculty of Health and Canberra Health Services. UC has curiosity, ambition and inclusiveness at its core. Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person-centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding region. CHS employ around 1500 allied health professionals and allied health assistants across 36 different professions and provides services within the ACT and surrounding regions. Allied Health is provided within the acute, clinical and community care setting to enhance the physical, psychological, social and cognitive functions of patients and clients.
As the Professor of Allied Health Research, you will be working across the University of Canberra and Canberra Health Services, to translate evidence into practice, enhance research capability and advance our connection and collaboration with each other.
Working closely with key stakeholders, you will develop research capacity, that will drive a collaborative and inclusive culture across allied health through facilitation of local, national and international research partnerships.
Drawing on your outstanding leadership qualities and your strategic ideas you will foster excellence in teaching and learning, research and professional engagement while making a valuable and long-lasting commitment to developing student higher degree research pathways and research opportunities.
To be a contender for this exciting and fulfilling opportunity, you will need a Tertiary qualification/s (or equivalent) in an Allied Health profession, including a Doctoral level qualification in a relevant Allied Health field and a track record in research funding, publications and PhD completions commensurate with a Level E appointment
You will also need to be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (where applicable); or eligibility for full membership of the relevant professional association if from a self-regulated profession. It is expected that the appointee will be from one of the following an allied health professional disciplines; Exercise Physiology, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Medical Imaging, Speech Pathology or Physiotherapy.
