The Rockhampton Leagues Club Central Queensland Capras will need to pick themselves up after suffering a rough defeat on the weekend.
The Capras took on the Tweed Seagulls who plotted and achieved their revenge after our side beat them back in round one.
Led by an inspired Toby Sexton, who has been phenomenal since returning from injury, the Titans’ feeder club got the job done 42-18.
Brandon Roberts opened the scoring in the match, giving the Central Queenslanders a 6-0 lead after Trey Browne’s successful conversion, but then it was all Seagulls.
Tweed scored six tries sandwiched between just a lone try from the Capras’ Brandon Clarke.
Lachlan Hubner’s try in the 74th minute was a small reprieve but Seagulls’ wingers Kaleb Ngamanu completed his hattrick in the 79th minute to end the CQ squad’s afternoon on a massive low.
After suffering back-to-back defeats, the Capras will now travel to Barlow Park where they take on the sixth-placed Northern Pride.
The Central Queenslanders, who sit in seventh, are now fearing the drop-zone but could realistically spring all the way back to fourth spot with a win over the Pride this weekend.
The side from Cairns will be fresh however as they come from the round 13 bye.
Their last match was a win over the Ipswich Jets with their last loss coming to the South Logan Magpies back in mid-May.
It will be an all-mighty task for our Capras but they’ve proven they can earn the big wins when they need to and this match almost feels like a must-win.
The Hastings Deering Colts CQ Capras squad will also be aiming to bounce back after they were beaten 40-16.
Two tries from Harry Barham and Jacob Voysey-McGrath weren’t enough for the young guns as they were knocked over in a strong second half display by the Gulls.
The Northern Pride are next up for the Capras with the Cairns club similarly struggling this season.
They sit in 12th position only one point above our youngsters with a win taking us up above them and potentially the Ipswich Jets.
