More than 3000 people attended the Rockhampton Jaguar Land Rover Pop-Up Polo at Victoria Park on Saturday, 3 June.
The event featured many competitions from the divot stomp to fashions on the field, car vs pony race and the traditional men’s and women’s dash.
Rockhampton Regional Council through Advance Rockhampton was a proud sponsor of the popular event, which is now in its fifth year.
Advance Rockhampton acting executive manager, Zac Garven said the Pop-Up Polo drove economic growth within the region.
“30 percent of last year’s attendees were from outside of the Rockhampton Region,” he said.
“We know that the visitor economy has real potential to drive economic growth and supports local small businesses including our retail, food and accommodation providers.”
Mayor Tony Willams has said the event was a highlight of the council’s events calendar.
“It was fantastic to see Queensland come away with the victory in urban polo State of Origin action, hopefully it’s a good omen for our Maroons teams heading into game 2,” he said.
Cr Williams said attendees reported that they were very entertained on the day.
