Leicester City are preparing for life back in the Championship following their shock relegation from the Premier League.
The Foxes endured a disastrous campaign in 2022/23 and now face the prospect of playing in the second tier again for the first time in almost a decade. A major rebuild is expected, and has already begun with the appointment of new manager Enzo Maresca.
A number of players are leaving at the end of their contracts this summer, including Youri Tielemans, who is joining Aston Villa. Others like James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are expected to be sold as they look to remain in the top flight.
City fans will be hoping Maresca can make use of his Manchester City connections – perhaps persuading some rising stars to come on loan – but the club may also look to utilise the free transfer market. Indeed, the Premier League has now confirmed each club’s retained list following the end of the 22/23 campaign.
