Cristian Romero will miss Tottenham’s Premier League game against Leeds on Sunday.
Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg, however, could feature.
Both players picked up niggling injuries in the defeat to Aston Villa a fortnight ago and then missed the abject loss to Brentford last time out as a result.
Mason has now confirmed that Romero will not be available in the final game of the season, from which Tottenham can secure a place in the Europa Conference League if they better Villa’s result and match Brentford’s.
Asked whether either player could feature, Mason replied: “Cristian no. He’s got an injury — he’s out. Pierre trained yesterday, so we’re hopeful that maybe he can help us at the weekend.”
Eric Dier underwent groin surgery on a long-term underlying injury earlier this week, but Mason suggested the England centre-back could be back in time to take part in Tottenham’s pre-season.
Mason said: “I think so. Hope and expectation is that that will be the case. That’s why the operation was taking place so quickly.
“I’m not too sure of his injuruies”, Mason replied, when asked whether Dier had been managing the injury for much of the season before it was operated on.
“I’ve been a professional; you have injuries that linger. Ultimately, it’s an injury that’s needed to be operated on. At the moment, he certainly couldn’t manage it [without surgery], so that option was taken away from us.”
