Haldimand council met in committee on May 2. Here are some highlights.
PORT MAITLAND CAMERA, BYLAW ENFORCEMENT HERE FOR SUMMER
Victoria Day weekend has arrived and, with it, new summer bylaw enforcement recruits who will patrol various county hot spots, including Port Maitland until Labour Day. The county was needing consistent internet and, with fibre optic cables being installed, staff are left waiting for the equipment to install a live-feed camera. They are also reviewing parking initiatives for the hamlet.
HAGERSVILLE CHAMBER RECEIVES $19,080 FOR VETERAN BANNERS
Hagersville is going to join Caledonia, Dunnville and Jarvis by installing veteran’s banners throughout the downtown area. Council consented to a grant of $19,080 to Hagersville and District Chamber of Commerce to do the job.
The overall proposed budget for this multi-year project is $54,520, with the chamber obtaining 35 per cent of the project funding from the Community Capital Projects Grants Program.
NEW STOPLIGHTS APPROVED FOR HALDIMAND ROAD 20
There will be new stoplights installed along Haldimand Road 20. One will be located at the intersection of Haldimand Road 20 and Yaremy Road/Haldimand Road 50. It will cost $22,000 and be paid for through the Community Vibrancy Fund. The other will be put at Haldimand Road 20 and Aikens Road, just west of the bend near Byng Conservation Area at a cost of $29,000.
