Port Adelaide’s beloved Banksia Tree Café, renowned for its sustainable practices, affordability, and exceptional culinary offerings, has today opened a brand new location.
The ‘Little Banksia Tree’ has officially opened its second location in Plant 3 Bowden
“After receiving the prestigious Best Café award last year, we pondered bringing our unique interpretation of modern Australian brunch to other parts of Adelaide while staying true to our commitment of supporting local, seasonal, and sustainable values,” shared co-owners Fabian and Halie.
“When this opportunity arose, Halie and I eagerly seized it. It was an obvious choice.” Fabian said.
The interior of Plant 3 is a delightful space, exuding a sense of openness, brightness, and airiness. Banksia Tree has beautifully incorporated abundant greenery and their signature wood-inspired design into this popular locale.
However, the transformation doesn’t end with the new location. Exciting changes are also in store for the café’s coffee and food offerings.
“We truly appreciate a great cup of coffee, and some of our favorite coffee concoctions are yet to be discovered in Adelaide. Hence, we thought, what better way to introduce new beverages than in a brand-new store?” Halie exclaimed.
“We are excited to try and change coffee culture in Adelaide. Milk and coffee is a great combination but from our travels around the world, we’ve learnt a lot about the flavours that pair well with coffee.” she said.
Delight your taste buds with the Vanilla Thunder, featuring espresso, vanilla, lemon, soda, and ice. Or try the Slammer, a refreshing blend of espresso, tonic, and ice. For a tantalizing twist, savor David’s Batch, an iced batch brew infused with Davidson’s plum syrup, soda, and ice. Indulge in the Bombon, a sweetened condensed milk and espresso combination topped with foam.
And what can patrons expect from the food menu? With an unwavering focus on locally sourced ingredients, the menu will evolve regularly to reflect the changing seasons and to ensure a unique and fresh dining experience.
“The XO Crab, served on artisan sourdough with poached eggs and sumac hummus, as well as the fire-grilled French Toast adorned with plum jam, rosewater cream, and seasonal fruit, will undoubtedly make a delightful appearance,” Fabian revealed.
You can also try The New Yorker with pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, and maple mustard. For a delightful brunch, savor their Birch Granola soaked in orange juice, or the Pickled Crab with pickled crab meat, pickles, rye toasts, and labneh. Don’t forget to explore their pastries and sweets selection, featuring delectable treats like Banksia Banana Bread and the irresistible French Toast Donut.
“While we won’t be able to feature a wood fire immediately, there will still be elements that pay homage to our distinctive cooking style over an open flame,” Halie reassured.
In a playful twist, The Little Banksia will also offer an Aussie-themed puppy menu aptly named “The Barksia Tree.” This endearing selection includes adorable puppy party pies, puppy lamingtons, and Fairy bread, all thoughtfully crafted with puppy-friendly ingredients.
