David’s Bridal in the Dartmouth Mall, and a few other locations in the area, will be closing their doors this summer, a sign that the wedding giant’s recent bankruptcy announcement is resulting in some serious changes.
Back in April, it was reported that the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In the filing, David’s Bridal listed an increased number of brides opting for less traditional wedding attire as one of the factors that led to the company’s downfall. More casual weddings and competition from online retailers were also factors that David’s Bridal could simply not compete with.
“We are pursuing a dual-track process under Chapter 11 to sell our Company,” said David’s Bridal in a statement to NBC 10. “We hope to achieve a going concern sale and preserve as many David’s jobs as possible but have commenced store closings in specific locations as this is underway.”
On the company’s website, David’s Bridal at the Dartmouth Mall is scheduled to close in late June. The Warwick and Natick locations are also listed as “closing” with no clear timeline of when that closing date is.
What does this mean for David’s Bridal brides?
In the midst of its restructuring process, the company provided some valuable answers to questions that brides will most certainly have, with one of the most important questions being, “Will I still get my dress on time?”
“Delivering every order on time remains our singular focus, and we plan to continue to do so at the highest levels throughout the process,” said the company.
Shopping online and using the company’s website planner, Pearl, will still be easily accessible. The company’s “Dream Center” is open and available 24/7 for any brides looking for more answers.
In the meantime, head to the Dartmouth Mall location while you can and score huge savings.
