Commuters were forced to wait for more than an hour after a road near two of Brisbane’s biggest hospitals was closed by a police incident.
Police confirmed on Thursday morning a mental-health related incident had forced the closure of Stanley St in both directions between Annerley Rd and Vulture St near the Queensland Children’s and Mater hospitals.
The incident had involved a patient. That person was safely taken back to hospital and the matter fully resolved by 10.30pm.
City commuters, however, had been forced to wait more than an hour while emergency services personnel responded to the incident.
TransLink buses were delayed by up to 30 minutes at a time with disgruntled passengers taking to social media to express their discontent.
“Guys DO NOT TAKE the Southbank busway!!! The buses haven’t moved in one hour,” one person warned.
“I left the city an hour ago and am only in Woolloongabba,” another said.
Queensland police, ambulance and fire and emergency services all attended the incident.
