A man is due in court today, one of three people charged over the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the state’s Riverina region.
Strike Force Bohr was established in September 2022 to investigate the distribution of cocaine in Wagga Wagga.
Following extensive inquires, officers attached to Wagga Wagga Region Enforcement Squad (RES), with assistance from Monaro RES, South East RES, Riverina PD and Traffic and Highway Patrol – executed three search warrants in Estella, Wagga Wagga and Lake Albert, from about 12pm Thursday (11 May 2023) and 7.30am yesterday (Friday 12 May 2023).
A 24-year-old man was arrested in Wagga Wagga about 12.30pm, and a search warrant subsequently executed at a home on Samson Street, Estella.
There police seized vapes, knuckle dusters, prescription medication, $18,950 in Australian currency, designer shoes and electronic devices. Three vehicles were also towed from the property.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police station where he was charged with 26 offences
- Supply prohibited drug (21 counts, including one count of supply a prohibited drug greater than or equal to commercial quantity)
- Supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis
- Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime
- Larceny
- Receive/dispose stolen property, and
- Knowingly direct activities of a criminal group.
The man appeared in Wagga Wagga Local Court yesterday, where he was formally bail refused to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 12 July 2023.
Following further inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a business on Baylis Street, Wagga Wagga, about 7.30am yesterday.
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Wagga Wagga Police station where he was charged with three offences
- Supply prohibited drug
- Receive/dispose stolen property
- Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime
He was refused police bail and appeared before Wagga Wagga Local Court yesterday, where he was formally bail refused to reappear at the same court tomorrow (Saturday 13 May 2023).
A search warrant was also executed at a home on Taupo Drive, Lake Albert, about 9.30am yesterday, where a 32-year-old woman was arrested.
She was issued a court attendance notice for four offences
- Supply prohibited drug (two counts)
- Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime
- Participate criminal group contribute criminal activity
She was granted conditional bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 28 June 2023.
Investigations under Strike Force Bohr are continuing.
