Calvin Paterson Memorial Park, Colvins Road Gooburrum
This is notification for residents, motorist and pedestrians, Bundaberg Regional Council intends to undertake planned hazard reduction burn activities on Council managed land at Calvin Paterson Memorial Park, Colvins Road Gooburrum on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 June 2023 between 7 am and 5 pm, weather permitting.
The planned burn will be undertaken by Council with assistance from the Queensland Rural Fire Service. The location of the planned burn is shown in red shading on the map below and during this time smoke will be present in the local area.
There will be a temporary road closure of the section of Colvins Road adjacent to the park, shown in yellow on the map below, during the planned burn period on both days, with no through traffic permitted. There will be detours in place to assist motorist, cyclist and pedestrians.
Residents around the burn area are reminded to take the following precautions:
• Drive to road conditions and observe all warning signs.
• If smoke is present and you have asthma or other breathing difficulties, reduce outdoor activities or leave the area during this time if possible.
• Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes and businesses.
• Keep outdoor furniture and other items under cover to prevent ember damage.
• Remove washing from clothes lines.
• Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage.
• Ensure pets and livestock have a safe area if required during the burn.
• Sightseers must keep away from the burn area for their own safety and follow all directions from Council staff and the Queensland Rural Fire Service. This includes the days following the burn to allow for the fire to be fully extinguished.
