Former SuperSport United and AmaZulu coach Cavin Johnson is convinced Pitso Mosimane can become successful if he takes another job in North Africa.
Mosimane appears unsettled in Saudi Arabia where his Al Ahli bosses have reportedly lined up another Romanian tactician Razvan Lucescu to take over from the South African.
This is despite Mosimane helping Al Ahli to automatic promotion back into Saudi Pro League with four games remaining after spending this season in Division 1.
The Jeddah-based outfit have also been crowned Division 1 champions with a game remaining.
Amid facing an uncertain future at Al Ahli, Mosimane has been strongly linked with North African clubs Raja Casablanca and Esperance, especially after they missed out on the CAF Champions League title.
Johnson, who worked with Mosimane at Egyptian giants Al Ahly, believes his former boss can have another successful stint up north.
“I have heard some of these things but I never had facts,” Johnson told Scrolla.Africa.
“I don’t have any authority to encourage him to go back to North Africa because that is entirely up to him. With all respect for him, that’s his decision to make.
“But yes, he can thrive in Tunisia or Morocco, he knows the football over there. So, yes he can become successful, without any doubt.”
Johnson was Mosimane’s assistant coach at Al Ahly where the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach won two Champions League titles, as many CAF Super Cups and guided them to two bronze medals at the Fifa Club World Cup.
Earlier this week, Mosimane dropped a hint that his time in Saudi Arabia could be up and is now “waiting for the next project.”
