- Pauline Hanson selling wool jumpers
- Money to fund upcoming court battle
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has come up with a crafty way to fund her legal fight against a Greens senator who she told to ‘p*ss off to Pakistan’.
Six jumpers and one cardigan knitted by Senator Hanson are being auctioned to defend the legal action brought against her for suggesting in a tweet that Greens deputy leader Mehreen Faruqi return to her homeland.
Bidding started at $500 for each of the differently coloured garments being offered on the One Nation website under the label ‘Pauline Hanson’s winter collection’.
A smiling Senator Hanson models the yellow, red, purple, mauve, green, blue and teal knitwear pieces herself.
‘Each one is hand-knitted over a period of approximately 60 hours or more by the founder and leader One Nation, Senator Pauline Hanson herself,’ the website reads.
The website promises that up until the auction ends on June 11 bidders have ‘the exhilarating opportunity to purchase one of these exclusive hand knits by Pauline Hanson, unless you can make an offer we can’t refuse before the end of the auction’.
‘All proceeds will go into the Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Fighting Fund to fight for our rights to freedom of speech, democracy with regard to allegations made by Mehreen Faruqui (Greens Deputy Leader), which is now before the courts,’ the website reads.
As an extra incentive the website says winning bidders might be the ‘lucky person to have your jumper/cardigan hand delivered by Pauline Hanson herself’.
The advertised fit of each garment is a large 10 to a small 14.
The red jumper appears to be the most popular with the highest of two offers being $1,010.
The yellow jumper is faring the least well with with the item of clothing currently listed at $530.
The remaining jumpers and a cardigan are currently fetching between that price and $730.
Senator Hanson is accusing the Greens of trying to bankrupt her by accusing her of breaching the Racial Discrimination Act.
‘The Greens are trying to silence me because I spoke out against their deputy leader, Meereen (sic) Faruqi, for her disgusting attack on Queen Elizabeth II, made on the very day of her passing,’ Senator Hanson said.
‘I’ll be blunt. The Greens are taking me to court because they want to bankrupt me and kick me out of parliament. But I won’t let them.’
Senator Faruqi claims Senator Hanson violated the Racial Discrimination Act by advising she ‘p**s off back to Pakistan’.
The exchange happened in September after Senator Faruqi shared her republican views following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Senator Faruqi’s lawyers argue Senator Hanson’s tweet ‘did offend, insult, humiliate and intimidate’ their client and ‘other people who share attributes’ with her.
In early May Senator Hanson sold The Pourhouse boutique craft beer bar in the NSW Hunter Valley town of Maitland, which also has a three-bedroom holiday apartment.
The $1.1million price tag meant Senator Hanson had more than doubled her money in the 11 years after she bought the property for just $449,000.
