About the College of Medicine and Public Health at Flinders University

About the Role
Flinders University are partnering with three Australian Universities to transform care and outcomes for people living with chronic kidney disease. This role requires a friendly and patient-centred individual to support the project teams by building relationships and engaging with consumers (patients, family members, staff members and community). This is a unique opportunity to embed patient-led practices into all stages of kidney disease research, through implementing a patient engagement framework. Prioritising communication and collaboration, the incumbent will also be responsible for operational project support and delivering training in patient-partnership to stakeholders.
About You
Flinders University are seeking an experienced people person whose key strengths are communication (written/verbal), empathy and building relationships. The incumbent will have substantial experience in engaging with patients and consumers in research, healthcare and/or medical research; as well as an ability to translate scientific information into plain language.
Furthermore, we are looking for someone who:
- Is highly organised with a strong eye for detail.
- Has project or research experience, working with large projects and a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Holds a qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience (Communication, Health, Allied Health, Nursing, Aboriginal Health, and Education qualifications considered).

Prescribed Conditions for Employment
- A valid National Police Certificate which is satisfactory to the University will also be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.

- If based in Northern Territory – Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid ‘Working with Children Clearance’ (Ochre Card). This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
