Rugby league was back at local fields last weekend with Bundaberg Rugby League and Northern Districts Rugby League competitions returning after the 47th Battalion carnival.
In the BRL A Grade competition, Past Brothers have maintained their winning streak, coming back to win 34-12 against Waves Tigers in Round 5.
Wallaroos triumphed over Hervey Bay Seagulls 84-6 and East Magpies defeated West Panthers 36-24.
In the Reserve Grade Waves Tigers clawed a 16-10 win over Past Brothers, while East Magpies had a convincing 44-6 win against West Panthers and the Wallaroos bested the Hervey Bay Seagulls 36-16.
For Round 3 of the U18s division, Past Brothers dominated the scoreboard with a 48-6 win against Waves, and there was a forfeit for the West Panthers and South Burnett game.
In Miriam Vale for Round 5 of the NDRL women’s league tag competition, Gin Gin Hawkettes racked up 56 points without conceding a single point against the Avondale Tigeress.
The Hawkettes are yet to lose a game this season.
Meanwhile, the Agnes Water Marlins held onto a 8-4 win against the Isis Devils.
In the men’s league competition Avondale Tigers had a 30-24 win against the Gin GIn Hawks, while the South Kolan Sharks defeated homeside Miriam Vale Magpies 28-8.
The Isis Devils had a bye.
This weekend will be another full weekend of league, with BRL games on Saturday and NDRL teams taking the field on Sunday.
Kicking off the weekend of footy with U18s at 11.30am at Salter Oval, West Panthers take on Waves Tigers on field 1 while Past Brothers and Hervey Bay go head-to-head on field 2 as South Burnett have the bye.
Reserves take the field after lunch with Past Brothers and Hervey Bay playing at Salter Oval at 1pm and West Panthers and Waves Tigers taking the field at 2.30pm.
The Wallaroos and East Magpies play at Eskdale Park at 3.30pm.
The A Grade competition will see Past Brothers and Hervey Bay playing from 4.15pm and West Panthers facing Waves Tigers at 6pm.
Wallaroos and East Magpies A Grade match takes the field at Eskdale Park at 5pm.
Sunday football at Shark Park in South Kolan will begin with women’s league tag.
Avondale is up against the Marlins at 11.15am and the Devils will try to break the Hawkette’s winning streak at 12.15pm.
The men’s competition will kick off at 1.15pm with Miriam Vale Magpies trying to best the Isis Devils, and then home-side South Kolan Sharks will take on the Gin Gin Hawks at 2.45pm.
Avondale Tigers have the bye.
