After starring in three prior installments, original American Horror Story actor Zachary Quinto has confirmed his season 12 return. The anthology series, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, premiered on FX back in 2011, exploring various characters and locations throughout. Quinto portrayed Chad Warwick in Murder House, one of the building’s previous owners who was killed by the ghost of Tate Langdon, but is best known for his work as the frightening and manipulative Dr. Oliver Thredson/Bloody Face in the season 2, Asylum.
Absent from the series for some time, Quinto returned to play Sam in American Horror Story: NYC, and now, the actor has confirming his involvement in season 12. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Quinto revealed that he will cameo in the upcoming installment, Delicate. The star also discussed meeting Kardashian, whose AHS casting was announced in April, and noted that he was “impressed” by her work. Read Quinto’s comments regarding his AHS return and Kim Kardashian below:
I did a cameo on this season of American Horror Story and I got to meet her. She was so lovely and warm and, really, I don’t think she needs my advice. She seemed really in her element, and I was really impressed by her spirit and her openness. I really look forward to seeing this season because I think she’s gonna do a wonderful job.
How Casting Could Affect AHS Season 12
American Horror Story has maintained a strong fanbase for years, but audiences have expressed disappointment in later seasons, especially as new talent was introduced. While Kardashian shared she was taking acting lessons, her casting was met with skepticism from longtime viewers, so Quinto’s comments might help alleviate some concerns surrounding her future performance. Given how popular she is, and that series veteran Emma Roberts will star alongside her, American Horror Story: Delicate could still manage to draw steady ratings as well.
Other additions to American Horror Story: Delicate include Matt Czuchry and Cara Delevingne. MJ Rodriguez has also joined the cast of season 12, and although she is another newcomer to the AHS universe, the star has worked with Murphy before on Pose. After Quinto’s appearance on NYC, his cameo is sure to excite fans of the show, and it will be interesting to see if any other original actors return, since he and Roberts are the only ones confirmed as of now.
Besides the cast announcements, there is little known about American Horror Story season 12, though it is reportedly based on the Danielle Valentine novel Delicate Condition, a first for the long-running series typically telling original stories. The upcoming novel explores an indie actor who attempts to get pregnant through in vitro fertilization, only for the men in her life to seemingly be manipulating her. Who Quinto will portray this time around remains to be seen, but the casting news suggests that his involvement on American Horror Story could continue.
