The University will host dedicated Open Days at Charles Sturt in Bathurst, Orange, Wagga Wagga, Albury-Wodonga and Port Macquarie, offering tours, information sessions and more.
Charles Sturt Associate Director, Student Recruitment and University Events Ms Lorraine Ryan said this year’s Open Day offerings would give students a very real insight into university life at Charles Sturt along with possible avenues for career pathways upon graduation.
“Open Day is the perfect opportunity for students and their families to receive a more in-depth insight into what Australia’s leading
regional university for graduate outcomes has to offer,” Ms Ryan said.
“In addition to receiving
first-hand insights into courses, checking out campus facilities and other student
experiences, prospective students will also have the opportunity to meet representatives
from our industry partners.
“Our list of industry
partners attending this year is impressive, as it includes global giant in the
technology space IBM, along with industry leaders such as ANZ, Westfund,
Marathon Health, the Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network and Transgrid.
“This is an exclusive opportunity for students to meet leaders and experts in these fields to get first-hand insights into what the future of their industry or interest looks like.”
Open Days will be held at:
- Port Macquarie on Sunday 30 July, 10am-2pm
- Wagga Wagga on Sunday 6 August, 10am-3pm
- Albury-Wodonga on Sunday 13 August, 10am-2pm
- Bathurst, Sunday 20 August, 10am-2pm
- Orange, Sunday 27 August, 10am-1pm
Ms Ryan said that each Open Day will also offer guidance for school leavers who have received offers from the Charles Sturt Advantage program (CSA), which is a pathway into university for Year 12 students before completion of their HSC exams.
The program’s selection criteria is based on each student’s Year 11 school results and soft skills that are vital in the workforce, such as diplomacy, negotiation skills and emotional intelligence.
Ms Ryan said Charles Sturt was the first university to make large group offers for early entry to prospective students for 2024.
“More than 2,000 early offers were made to high school students across Australia via Round One of the Charles Sturt Advantage program,” Ms Ryan said.
“Applications were received from students from more than 1,000 schools from every state and territory.”
Health and education courses have proved popular for on-campus study for 2024 so far.
Ms Ryan said Open Days would also be useful for prospective online students, who should register and attend to learn more about studying with Australia’s most experienced online university.
“From short courses to full bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Charles Sturt University has 100 per cent online courses to get you where you want to go,” Ms Ryan said.
For students who have received offers to study online in 2024 through the Charles Sturt Advantage program the most popular online courses include criminal justice, nursing, psychology, and laws.
The University has put in place multiple measures to ensure students, their families, staff, and the wider community are safe at each event.
“We’re adhering to safe hygiene practices, encouraging social distancing, staggering times for pre-booked information sessions and tours, and monitoring numbers on campus to ensure we are well-positioned to provide the best experience possible.”
