After rocking Sydney fans last week and Adelaide on Friday, Konstantinos Argiros concluded his Australian tour in Melbourne with a bang.
“This is one of my best concerts ever,” the singer told a full house at John Cain Arena on Saturday.
The 37-year-old, one of Greece’s most recognisable artists of the modern laiko/pop scene, along with his band kept vibes high throughout the performance leaving the audience impressed by his energy and endurance.
His top tracks, ‘Lioma’ and ‘Iliovasilema’ had the audience signing along, while his signature songs ‘Eleftheros’ and ‘Athina mou’ made everyone jumping around ecstatic.
Earlier on the day, Argiros had visited the Greek Centre for a conversation with the Board of Management of the Greek Community of Melbourne.
Greek media, including Neos Kosmos, were also present at the meeting, having the opportunity to ask the artist directly about his Australian experience.*
The GCM President Bill Papastergiadis welcomed the singer and provided him with an overview of the Greek Centre’s comprehensive cultural program, including its live music, dance performance, film screenings, lectures, theatrical production and festival components.
Argiros showed great interest in the history of the GCM and stated impressed after the briefing and tour he received on the Ancient Greek classes, having also had a chance to see a class in progress and engage with students.
Upon his arrival at the Greek Centre, he was greeted by the GCM Vice Presidents Dr. Jim Bossinakis and Michael Karamitos, Treasurer A/Prof Marinis Pirpiris, GCM, Secretary Nick Koukouvitakis, Board Members Helen Hiotis, Tass Sgardelis and Dean Kotsianis, along with the Public Relations Manager of GCM, Antonia Tsamis.
