As teams came back from the general bye Olympic returned to the winners list as they downed Chapman Athletic to keep in touch with the leading Rovers.
With the Rovers on a bye Olympic needed a win against Chapman Athletic to keep in touch and a brace from last year’s top scorer Paul Johnson and Kalan De Luca’s first goal of the season ensured they came away with all three points.
They now sit two points behind Rovers though have played one more game while Chapman Athletic remain winless with Sonnie Chikomo scoring just their second goal of the season in the 3-1 loss.
It was the only match in the league this round as for the second week in a row La Fiamma forfeited gifting Abrolhos a 3-0 result to sit one point behind Olympic in third.
In the women’s league Chapman Athletic had success against Marconi with a 5-0 win, though considering last time the sides met Chapman won 14-0 it could be considered something of an improvement.
Selina Kiddle scored a hat-trick taking her season total up to 20 goals from her six games already beating her tally of 19 from last year and edging her ahead of the striker battle with Olivia Bidwell.
La Fiamma was given an almighty scare by an understrength Rovers side as they took a 1-0 lead into halftime thanks to Bri Nicholson.
The Rovers took just 11 players into the match with no players on the bench and at the start of the second where down to 10 as Nicholson succumbed to illness.
Despite La Fiamma dominating this season they still struggled to find a way through before Bidwell kept up her goal-scoring record to give them a tight 2-1 win.
For Olympic Madelen Ahearn’s brace went in vain as doubles to Ava Gold and Emelie Allan along with a single for Rachel Forrest helped Aborlhos to a big 5-2 win.
In the reserves five goals to Matthew Greenless and a hat-trick to Tom Mooney helped Abrolhos crush La Fiamma 11-0 while Olympic eased past Chapman Athletic 5-1.
