THE official opening of the new €22 million St. Mary’s Secondary School, Ballina, campus will take place this Friday.
Described as a ‘momentous day for Ballina’ by local Deputy Dara Calleary, the official opening will be performed by Minister for Education Norma Foley.
Commented Deputy Calleary: “This is the culmination of many years hard work by previous and current school management. It has been my pleasure to work closely with them from the beginning of the process and it is a very proud day for the region to have the campus up and running since September. It is one of the very most impressive schools in the country.”
While Minister Foley is in Ballina, Deputy Calleary will be bringing her to visit the ongoing development of a state of the art multimillion euro new Culleens National School.
“Work is progressing very well,” he said. “I am really looking forward to this site visit and to the project being completed.”
Added Deputy Calleary: “I have always been very committed to developing educational projects in the region and the work continues on other school projects within Ballina and north Mayo – hoping to have further news very soon.”
He extended best wishes to all the St. Mary’s school community for a great occasion on Friday.
After almost two years of construction, the new school building for St. Mary’s Secondary School welcomed its first students last September.
