Penguin will be chasing double premiership in tonight’s NWBU Coastal basketball grand finals in Devonport.
The Blues have qualified both men’s and women’s teams for the season deciders, but have never achieved double success.
Their last chance came in 2018, with the men winning, but the women going down to Devonport.
Ironically, tonight’s women’s grand final will also be Devonport, with the Warriors to start favourite after only losing one game all season and finishing on top of the ladder.
They only lost two games last season, with one of them being the grand final, with redemption the motivation to go one better tonight.
However, Penguin can’t be underestimated after a 13-point win over reigning premier Burnie in Tuesday night’s preliminary final.
In the men’s grand final, Penguin will be up against reigning premier Burnie.
The Blues finished on top of the ladder and beat Devonport in the second semi-final, but Burnie come into the game in red hot form after an impressive 31-point victory over Devonport in Tuesday night’s preliminary final and fired up for back to back titles.
The women’s grand final starts at 7 pm at the Devonport Sports Stadium, followed by the men at 8.30.
