The role
As a Nuclear Facilities Authorisation Group Chairperson, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Submarine Nuclear Facilities in Devonport are undergoing significant upgrade in support of the MoD defence programme. This opportunity plays a pivotal role during an exciting time of major expenditure, interesting and novel upgrade projects.
Day to day, you’ll lead the review of documentation in support of activities within the Submarine Nuclear Facilities at Devonport. You will also undertake the safe release of work following authorisation.
- Chair a multi-disciplined group to review work activities on the facilities.
- Authorise the work activity documents
- Safely release the work
- Ensure compliance with the safety case
- Upkeep the appropriate operational records
Essential experience of the Nuclear Facilities Authorisation Group Chairperson
- Knowledge of Nuclear Facilities/Submarine Maintenance
- Experience of working within the constraints of a Safety Case and License or Authorised Conditions
- Equivalent training and experience can be considered such as a previously qualified Royal Navy Category
- A watch keeper or suitable experience from other nuclear installations.
This role is based onsite at Devonport Royal Dockyard – 36 hour week with some on call commitments.
- Qualifications for the Nuclear Facilities Authorisation Group Chairperson Relevant Engineering Degree or significant experience.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC and NNPPI security clearance level for this role.
