The Brisbane Broncos NRLW squad will ramp up pre-season training in Brisbane, after returning from camp on the Sunshine Coast.
Broncos Origin representatives including captain Ali Brigginshaw, Shenae Ciesiolka, Destiny Brill, Romy Teitzel and Tazmin Gray will head into Queensland camp from Friday, ahead of game two in Townsville next Thursday.
The Scott Prince-coached Broncos NRLW side, featuring new faces including former Rooster Destiny Brill, New Zealand international Gayle Broughton and Tully’s Romy Teitzel were put through their paces at Twin Waters over three days, which included field, gym and beach training sessions.
It was held at the same location as the NRL squad’s pre-season camp during their trial matches on the Sunshine Coast earlier this year.
The squad also had a run at Sunshine Coast Stadium, where they will face the Sydney Roosters in a blockbuster season opener on Saturday, July 22, following the Broncos NRL clash with the Rabbitohs on Friday night, July 21. Tickets go on sale today.
Head Coach Scott Prince said the season is shaping as one of the biggest yet in the NRLW.
“It doesn’t matter where we play, we’re certainly looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s a great way for the girls to showcase their football skills up on the Sunshine Coast and it’s a great facility.
Prince: It’s A Good Opportunity To Get The Group Together
“It’s fantastic to see four new teams in the competition, it certainly spreads the talent but creates an opportunity for our younger generation coming through, they can have the chance to play for any team in the NRLW.
“It’s created a pathway, in that each club now has to think about nurturing the young girls in their region and building for the future.
Right across footy fields in Queensland, you see an influx of girls wanting to play rugby league, that’s perfect for our code but especially for our women’s program.

NRLW Brisbane Broncos Head Coach
The Broncos women were joined by junior girls in the RISE Program on the Sunshine Coast on the final day of the camp, inspiring the next generation of female league players.
Former Bronco turned Broncos Sunshine Coast-based Development Officer Jack Reed is the Head Coach of the NRL and QRL pathways program, now in its second year.
The Broncos NRLW squad will play a trial game against the Newcastle Knights in Newcastle on July 9.
