NRL star Tyrell Sloan grew up in a housing commission property with his grandmother in Wollongong, NSW.
And in a stunning change of fortune, the Illawarra Dragons athlete, 21, recently purchased his own property for $1.15million, in his home town of Wollongong.
The fullback bought the stylish five-bedroom property last month, which has had extensive renovation work done on it to give it a beautiful contemporary design.
The house features wooden panel flooring, bright eggshell white painted walls and an exquisite refurbished swimming pool.
The beautiful home sits on almost 1000 square metres and boasts many features that are attractive to buyers, including an undercover alfresco dining area.
Its elegant and newly renovated features give the property a significantly higher market value than others in the surrounding area, which average around $925,000.
Located in a scenic semi-rural area, it boasts jaw-dropping nature views and is ideal for both single people and families.
The well kept property features a stylish combination of modern architecture, including spacious and innovatively designed rooms, and traditional trappings such as a paved driveway.
Sloan previously spoke to Nine News about his upbringing in a housing commission home and said he was proud of how far he had come since then.
‘I used to play football out the front here every single day after school,’ he said, upon revisiting his childhood home.
He then offered some advice to young people working hard towards their goals.
‘Be yourself, nothing comes for free. Work hard,’ he said.
He made his NRL debut in 2021 when he was 19, and has since proven himself to be a formidable fullback for the St George Illawarra Dragons.
